Demand for new crossovers and SUVs in Russia increased by 49% in a year
In January – April, demand for new crossovers and SUVs in Russia increased by 49% compared to the same period last year, and the average price of a new car in this segment was 3.9 million rubles. Avito Auto experts told Izvestia about this on May 11.
Among the brands, the most noticeable dynamics was demonstrated by the premium brand Exeed — demand increased by more than 3.5 times. Almost three times more often, buyers began to consider Belgee cars, and Chery showed a twofold increase. Jaecoo (+82%) and Lada (+40%) complete the top five. Among the models, the leaders in annual growth were the Exeed RX (an increase of more than 6.5 times), the Exeed TXL (an increase of five times) and the Belgee X70 (almost four times).
Haval brand cars have become the most popular crossovers and SUVs on the platform, and Tenet, Lada, Geely and Exeed are also among the top five brands. Among the specific models, the top three most popular SUVs were the Tenet T7 with an average price of 2.9 million rubles, Haval Jolion (2.6 million rubles) and Tenet T4 (2.4 million rubles). The demand for SUV segment models grew the most in the Southern (+128%), Central (+32%) and Siberian (+23%) federal districts.
"In April, the market for new SUVs grew by 39% year-on-year. At the same time, we also recorded an increase in the number of offers for the sale of crossovers and SUVs — by 13.7%," said Artem Khomutinnikov, head of sales at New Cars at Avito.
In the first four months of 2026, 53.4 thousand new cars of global brands were sold in Russia, excluding Chinese, Belarusian and Russian ones. As noted on May 8, this is 2.4 times more than in January –April last year (+136%). The market share of these brands was 14%.
