German Chancellor Friedrich Merz is unable to solve urgent problems. This opinion was shared by Gunnar Lindemann, a member of the Berlin Chamber of Deputies from the Alternative for Germany (AfD) party, in an interview with Izvestia on May 7.

"The survey results do not surprise me at all. Merz heads the worst federal government in the history of the Federal Republic of Germany. Merz is not up to the task of solving the pressing problems of our time," Lindemann said.

According to him, the German government continues to spend billions of euros on Ukraine, EU projects and foreign programs, while the country's internal problems remain unresolved. Lindemann pointed to the crisis of the pension system, saying that many elderly Germans do not have enough money to live after decades of work.

He also criticized the situation in the health insurance system, linking the cost increase to the migration crisis. In addition, the deputy spoke about the deindustrialization of Germany, the instability of energy supply and rising gasoline prices. According to Lindemann, this is what increases citizens' dissatisfaction with Merz's policy.

"Therefore, as AfD, we demand that early elections be held sooner rather than later. Germany needs to be put back on its feet, and the accumulated problems must finally be solved," the deputy concluded.

Merz said yesterday that Germany is currently experiencing difficulties due to structural problems in the country that have been ignored for a long time. He also announced plans to accelerate the process of internal reforms and urged German citizens to be patient with the government's changes.

The Politico newspaper reported on the same day that Merz has been particularly unrestrained in criticizing the leaders of other states in recent months, which may be a signal of weakness in his position in the domestic political arena. It is emphasized that the German chancellor, celebrating his year in power, has always been characterized by "a gap between external ambitions and internal weakness."
