The United States demanded that Europe strengthen measures to combat terrorism
The new U.S. counterterrorism strategy states that Europe must strengthen its counterterrorism measures. The relevant document was published on the White House website.
"Europe must immediately significantly step up its efforts to combat terrorism. It is clear to everyone that well—organized hostile groups use open borders and the globalist ideals associated with them," the document says.
In addition, the United States called on Europe, as the "cradle of Western values," to take action to stop its "conscious decline." It is argued that under the current European policy, the threat of terrorism can be guaranteed.
The strategy also emphasizes that under President Donald Trump, the United States has returned to "common sense and a realistic counterterrorism."
Bavarian Prime Minister Markus Zeder said at a press conference on January 26 that German intelligence agencies cannot counter terrorism without the help of the United States. He noted that Europe has lost its status as a global center of power, and its security largely depends on the United States. He stressed that "two thirds of NATO's capabilities are concentrated in the hands of the United States."
