In Cuba, they declared the US lies about the non-existence of the island's oil block
Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez Parrilla said on May 6 that US Secretary of State Marco Rubio's statements about the absence of an oil embargo against Cuba were untrue and at odds with the position of the White House.
"A few hours ago, the [US] Secretary of State stated that there is no oil blockade against Cuba. He just decided to lie. He contradicts the president [To Donald Trump of the United States] and the White House press Secretary [Caroline Leavitt]," the Telegram channel said.
According to him, the decree of January 29, 2026 provides for duties for countries exporting fuel to the island.
Havana noted that only one shipment of fuel had been delivered in four months, and suppliers were facing pressure. It is also emphasized that the decree of May 1 introduces additional secondary sanctions in the energy sector.
The Politico newspaper reported on May 3 that the Trump administration is considering the possibility of using military force in Cuba to carry out transformations in the country. It is noted that such initiatives enjoy the support of the Cuban diaspora in the United States.
On May 2, Trump announced that the United States could send the aircraft carrier USS Abraham Lincoln to the shores of Cuba in order to capture the island. He added that he plans to deal with Cuba "almost immediately" after resolving the issue of a peace agreement with Iran. He added that Cuba "will definitely have problems."
