When planning repairs, it is important to allocate the budget correctly and not skimp on key stages that determine the durability and safety of housing. Sergey Glebov, product manager of KNAUF GYPSUM LLC, told Izvestia about this on May 9.

"You can't skimp on rough materials. These are plaster, screed, plasterboard systems," he stressed.

According to the expert, mistakes in the initial stages may lead to the need to redo repairs. It is especially important to use high-quality materials when installing power grids and water supply systems. Glebov noted that it is possible to save money due to modern solutions, for example, drywall-based drywall construction systems, which shorten the work time.

"As soon as the partition is installed, the wall is ready, all that remains is to seal the joints and you can actually start finishing," he explained.

The specialist paid special attention to the primer. Its absence or the use of substandard formulations can lead to cracks and defects. When repairing an apartment, the first step should be the leveling of the floor, walls and ceiling. A popular solution is to use dry prefabricated floors based on gypsum fiber.

"The use of this method of preparing the substrate makes it possible to produce a finishing coating device within a day after its installation," the expert noted.

He added that when choosing materials for the floor, it is important not to skimp on expanded clay, as poor quality can lead to deformation of the coating. For ceilings, according to Glebov, stretch structures remain a budget option, while plasterboard ceilings provide better sound insulation and fire safety. In areas with high humidity, such as the bathroom and kitchen, the expert recommended using moisture-resistant materials and be sure to apply waterproofing.

Dmitry Novokhatsky, the chief specialist of the author's supervision, said on April 25 that most buyers, when accepting an apartment in a new building, first of all evaluate the appearance of the housing — the flatness of the walls, the quality of the finishes and the condition of the windows. However, the main problems are often hidden and manifest themselves after settling in.
