Belousov called the international situation extremely unstable
The current international situation remains extremely unstable. This was announced on April 28 by Russian Defense Minister Andrei Belousov at a meeting of defense ministers of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) in Bishkek.
"Today's meeting is taking place against the backdrop of an extremely unstable international situation," Belousov said.
It is noted that the meeting is timed to coincide with the 25th anniversary of the founding of the SCO.
According to the head of the Russian Defense Ministry, during this time the organization has become an influential and authoritative interstate association in the Eurasian space.
He added that regular contacts between the defense departments of the participating countries, as well as the common goal of ensuring stability and security in the SCO space, contribute to the development of cooperation.
On April 26, Belousov expressed concern about the new approach of the countries of the "collective West" to the role and place of nuclear weapons in the world. Statements about the possibility of deploying nuclear weapons on the territory of non-nuclear States are increasingly being made in Western countries.
