Lercek resumed playing sports and launched a cosmetics brand.
Blogger Valeria Chekalina (Lercek), who is undergoing treatment for stage IV stomach cancer, resumed light physical activity and introduced her own cosmetic brand Eyya skin. Both events were covered on Instagram (owned by Meta, recognized as an extremist organization in Russia and banned) by Chekalina herself and her fiance Luis Squicciarini. All the details are in the Izvestia article.
The first dance after a long break
Squicciarini posted on his personal blog an archive video of him and Valeria dancing together. The reason for this publication was the good news: doctors allowed the blogger to resume light physical activity, including swimming and dancing.
In the caption to the video, Louis restored the chronology of what the couple had to go through. Dancing classes together stopped in the seventh month of Valeria's pregnancy when the pain became too severe.
"For months, I carried you in my arms and gave you two strong injections at night so that you could sleep for a while. The doctors said that the pain would go away after giving birth, but after that we only had a terrible diagnosis," he wrote.
After a course of radiation therapy and spinal surgery, Chekalina began to restore her motor functions, and later doctors allowed her to gradually return to physical activity. According to Squicciarini, Valeria's reaction to this news was very exciting: at the first lesson after a long break, her legs were shaking and her muscles were almost numb, so Louis asked Lercek to just trust him.
"Lera, step by step we will build our dance again. And you will dance again, as you did then!" he concluded.
Lercek cosmetics brand
At the same time, Chekalina introduced her own cosmetics brand, Eyya skin. The blogger posted a presentation video and the first details about the project on her Instagram. It took two years to create the brand: Chekalina worked on it simultaneously with court proceedings and treatment, without interrupting the process even during periods of hospitalization.
In the presentation video, Lercek appears without a wig — with a shaved head, which was the result of chemotherapy — and barely holds back tears, talking about the meaning she put into the project.
"As life has shown, no one knows what lies ahead and what fate awaits us. And I do not know... I just want to... Even if I'm gone, I want this brand to live and carry the main message to the girls, which I've always tried to convey. But maybe at some point I lost touch with him myself. Think about yourself first of all, about your health and beauty," said Lercek.
According to her, the project is intended as a reminder to women to find time for themselves — despite stress and daily fuss.
"I would like our women to find holy time for themselves in all this fuss and stress 24 hours a day," the blogger added.
Immediately after the launch, Chekalina started preparing thank-you cards for customers and signs each one personally. Squicciarini took a picture of her at work: dozens of cards with her face and the Eyya skin logo are spread out on the table in front of the blogger, along with medicines, a cup of tea and a bottle of water. In a series of stories, the groom showed Lerchek at work, commenting on what was happening with undisguised admiration.
"Our Lera cannot be stopped. Sometimes I don't understand where she gets so much energy from," he wrote.
In a separate post, Louis shared a shot of himself photographing her during a work shoot.
"I will always be there for you and support you. You are my muse," he wrote, adding that he had been actively involved in the creation of Eyya skin throughout the two years of work on the project.
Mixed reaction
The launch of the cosmetics line divided the audience. Some subscribers expressed support for Lercek: in the comments, users call her appearance in front of the camera without a wig a brave act, and the project itself is evidence of exceptional willpower.
Others reacted skeptically, questioning how, with terminal cancer, a blogger is able to participate in full-fledged photo shoots, shoot a presentation video and build a new business. Some users have again questioned the diagnosis itself, an issue that has been discussed online since the first announcement of the disease.
Lercek's health status
Chekalina is undergoing treatment for stage IV stomach cancer at the Blokhin Cancer Center. The therapy is divided into nine stages, some of which have already been completed. Due to the illness, the blogger has practically lost sight in one eye and is experiencing serious difficulties when walking. Hair loss forces her to wear a wig in public. A venous port was installed in her neck to administer the drugs.
The last chemotherapy session was especially difficult for Chekalina. Photographer Georgy Kamaev, who accompanies the blogger, said that she "felt really bad" — in one of the shots, Lerchek was sitting right on the bathroom floor of a hospital room next to an IV drip. Nevertheless, immediately after the procedure was completed, she left for a work meeting. According to Kamaev, Chekalina does not stop thinking about work and financial issues — her relatives continue to persuade her to focus on recovery, but to no avail.
