Green noise: Hybrids and electric cars dominated the Beijing Auto Show
Chinese motor shows have become the main trend setters in the automotive world in recent years. This was facilitated by the cancellation of the Geneva Motor Show and the status of China as the largest automotive market on the planet. The 19th Beijing International Motor Show was no exception, which finally confirmed the global transition of the global automotive industry to "green" technologies. The models with traditional internal combustion engines shown in the Chinese capital can be counted on the fingers of one hand: hybrids and electric cars became the main debutants. With an eye on Russia
One of the most interesting premieres of the Beijing Motor Show was the Hongqi frame SUV, which, due to its angular design, can be mistaken from afar for a scaled-down copy of the new generation Russian Ural truck. It is stated that this is the first full-size "ramnik" in the history of the brand, although there was a limited series of LS7 models designed primarily for the party nomenclature. Despite the fact that the fashion for brutal "square" SUVs began for most Chinese automakers a few years ago, such a car has only just appeared in the Hongqi model range. The company didn't bother much with the name: just Off-Road, that is, "SUV".

The SUV is just over five meters long and is equipped with a sequential hybrid power plant with a total capacity of 843 hp, consisting of a two-liter gasoline engine that acts as an on-board generator and four electric motors. A heavy car accelerates to 100 km/ h in 4.5 seconds. The front and rear suspensions are pneumatic, and the chassis itself is fully controllable. The Hongqi Off-Road off-road arsenal includes a 27-centimeter ground clearance and mechanical interlocks on all three differentials.

The final decision on the launch of this model on our market has not been made at the moment, however, the Russian office of Hongqi does not exclude such a possibility.
The updated Aito M9 flagship crossover debuted at the Seres booth. The car received new bumpers, redesigned lighting equipment and a different radiator grille. There are handles recessed into the door panel, as well as sliding thresholds. The car has become slightly larger, with five or six seats in the cabin, as well as a ceiling screen for rear passengers.

The Aito M9 is available in both electric and hybrid versions. The power of the all—electric crossover has increased by almost 150 "horses" - now it is 676 hp (930 Nm). A battery with a capacity of 120 kWh allows you to travel 650 km on electric power. Acceleration from zero to "hundreds" takes 4.5 seconds. The hybrid version with a similar power plant capacity allows you to drive almost 1.5 thousand km.

The car is equipped with an updated autonomous driving system with 896-line lidar, radars and multiple cameras, as well as a parking assistant with 160 scenarios. In addition, the system is now able to detect bumps on the road in advance, and the electronics instantly change the characteristics of the active suspension. Since Aito cars are officially presented on our market, the updated M9 has every chance of being in the showrooms of Russian dealers.
A presentation of the new version of the popular Russian crossover Lixiang L9, designated Livis, took place in Beijing. It features a two-tone body paint, modified door handles (now they are half-hidden) and a redesigned taillight. The car is equipped with an innovative active suspension: each wheel can be forcibly raised and lowered independently of the others. The car received a steering rear axle, as well as steering and braking systems "by wire". The L9 hybrid powerplant with a new 1.5-liter internal combustion engine, which acts as an on-board generator, provides a total range of 1.5 thousand km, of which 340 cars can travel on electricity. In China, sales of the updated Lixiang L9 will start in mid-May, in Russia, the car, apparently, will appear a little later.

Voyah showed a new modification of the Taishan crossover with the X8 index at the Beijing Motor Show. The five-seater car is presented both in a purely electric version (646 hp, power reserve of 603-727 km, depending on battery capacity) and in a hybrid (150–horsepower internal combustion engine and two electric motors with a total capacity of 646 or 666 "horses" with a power reserve of 1.3-1.5 thousand km).

The main feature of the Taishan X8 is the transformation of the second row seats into a full—fledged berth. With the help of electric drives, they are folded into a flat area in a minute, while the built-in mattress automatically inflates, forming a double bed 2.1 m long.
The Yue 7 frame SUV took the central place at the GAC stand. The SUV's design is made in the popular "square" style, in which the features of the legendary Land Rover Defender are unmistakably guessed. The model shown at the exhibition has pixel diode optics and an expedition roof rack with a ladder, as well as a spare tire on the fifth door.

The car is equipped with a hybrid power plant, its characteristics have not yet been disclosed, but according to preliminary data, its power is about 700 hp. The car has a "digital chassis": the steering and braking systems have no mechanical connection with the controls. Commands to turn the wheels or slow down are given over the wires.

The Beijing Motor Show has also selected a number of European automakers to present its new models. Thus, the world premiere of the updated BMW 7 Series took place in the capital of China. Moreover, the German company itself calls this update the largest in the history of the brand.

The BMW executive sedan received narrow long LED running lights, a massive illuminated radiator grille and vertical headlights "hidden" in the corners of the front bumper. The car has a full-width projection display on the windshield, which displays instrument readings and other information. Passengers in the second row have access to a 31-inch touchscreen display that can be connected to a laptop.
BMW's "Seven" is equipped with both classic gasoline or diesel engines with a capacity of 286-400 hp, and hybrid power plants (490-612 hp). In addition, three electric versions are available, with capacities of 455, 545 and 680 hp.
The Beijing Motor Show has also become the premiere venue for the Chinese-British brand Freelander. This is not the next generation of the famous Land Rover Freelander, which was discontinued in 2015, but a new brand, the fruit of the synergy between Chery and Jaguar Land Rover.

The Freelander 8 crossover received a design in the style of the Concept 97 prototype, which was shown in March. However, if the concept had doors that open against the direction of travel, then they are ordinary on the production model. The car is built on a platform that is designed specifically for electric cars and hybrids. Its technical specifications are still being kept secret, but it is known that the G8 uses an 800-volt electrical architecture, and the batteries will be able to support charging with a capacity of up to 350 kW. Production of the Freelander 8 will be established in China, while the car is planned to be exported.
Audi E7X Crossover
The AUDI brand, created in 2024 specifically for China (not to be confused with the "global" German Audi brand), showed its second model, the E7X crossover, in the capital of China. The purely electric car is offered both with rear-axle drive (in this version it is equipped with a single 408 hp electric motor) and in all-wheel drive. The 4x4 version has a second electric motor on the front axle with a capacity of 272 hp.

Instead of rear-view mirrors, the AUDI E7X is equipped with video cameras, the images from which are displayed on LCD displays. The car is offered both in a standard five-seater version with a single rear sofa, and with a four-seater cabin with two separate seats in the second row. A ceiling-mounted 21.4-inch screen is provided for rear passengers.
