- MOL has received a notification from Kiev about the start of oil transit from Russia via Druzhba
Ukraine has started pumping oil through the Druzhba pipeline to Hungary. This was announced on April 22 by the Hungarian MOL group of companies on its website.
"The force majeure conditions, effective from January 27, 2026, ended at 18:00 on April 21, 2026. According to the notification, Ukrtransnafta JSC is ready to resume the transit of crude oil to Hungary and Slovakia," the message says.
At the same time, oil supplies to Hungary and Slovakia are expected to resume no later than April 23.
On April 22, Reuters reported that the EU ambassadors approved a loan to Kiev for €90 billion and the 20th package of sanctions against Russia. The article states that the EU expects Slovakia and Hungary to withdraw their disagreement with the decision after the restoration of fuel supplies via the Druzhba oil pipeline.
Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico said on April 22 that the republic would not support the new package of sanctions until the oil pipeline was reopened. According to him, trust has been violated between Slovakia and Ukraine. Fico also does not rule out that the Kiev authorities may stop the pipeline again.
