The State Duma will consider candidates for the position of Ombudsman in May.
Three candidates for the post of Commissioner for Human Rights in the Russian Federation have been submitted to the State Duma (DG). This was announced on April 22 on the website of the State Duma.
The Communist Party faction has proposed deputy Artyom Prokofiev, who is a member of the Committee on Tourism and Development of tourist infrastructure, for this post. Ivan Sukharev, who holds the position of First Deputy Chairman of the Committee on Property, Land and Property Relations, was nominated from the Liberal Democratic Party.
The third candidate was Yana Lantratova, who heads the Committee for the Development of Civil Society, public and religious associations. Her candidacy was put forward by the Fair Russia — For Truth faction, and the proposal was also supported by United Russia.
The nomination procedure was conducted in accordance with art. 155 of the Rules of the State Duma. The final vote on the submitted candidates is scheduled for May 2026.
Russian State Duma deputy Sergei Mironov announced on April 22 that the Fair Russia faction had nominated Deputy Chairman of the Duma Committee for the Development of Civil Society Yana Lantratova for the post of Commissioner for Human Rights in the Russian Federation on April 14.
