The United States failed to achieve any of the four key objectives in the operation against Iran and actually contributed to the expansion of its military capabilities, pushing Tehran to establish full control over the Strait of Hormuz. This was announced on April 22 by John Mearsheimer, an American political scientist and professor at the University of Chicago.

"We entered the war with four main demands: the complete abandonment of uranium enrichment, the cessation of support for the Houthis, Hamas and Hezbollah, the elimination of the missile arsenal and, in my opinion, the most important thing is a change of government. We failed on all four counts," Mearsheimer said in an interview with American journalist Chris Hedges. The video was posted on Hedges' YouTube channel.

According to the professor, the situation for the United States has become even worse after the operation in Iran. He noted that, in his opinion, the Iranians should have learned from this conflict about the need to produce a large number of missiles and launchers, as well as hide them in "rocket cities."

As for Iran's nuclear program, he said, Tehran may conclude that it needs to obtain nuclear weapons.

"In addition to the failure to achieve our four goals, we are now in a situation where the Iranians control the Strait of Hormuz and have imposed a toll passage through it. This did not happen on February 27 [before the operation in Iran], and it is likely to persist," said the professor.

The political scientist described the American war in Iran as a "huge failure," calling the situation of US President Donald Trump extremely difficult.

On the same day, the newspaper Krasnaya Zvezda called the Iranian Sejil missile a surprise for the United States. The publication analyzed the course of the joint operation of the United States and Israel against Iran.

CNN reported on April 22 that the military operation against Iran has led to a critical depletion of stocks of key U.S. weapons. The publication notes that during the current conflict, the United States has already used up at least 45% of its precision missiles, about 50% of THAAD missiles (for intercepting ballistic targets), as well as almost 50% of shells for Patriot anti-aircraft systems.

The representative of the army of the Islamic Republic, Mohammad Akraminia, said on March 18 that Iran would use new weapons against the United States and Israel. According to him, the Iranian army managed to shell all US military facilities in the region and "destroy most of their equipment."
