The mother of a girl held in Mexico told about the murder of another child
In Mexico, an underage girl from Russia, who was tricked into traveling to a Latin American country, was killed right in the building of the local prosecutor's office. Marina, the mother of Kristina Romanova, a girl detained in Mexico, told Izvestia about this on April 20.
"The girl was killed. That is, they also deceived me over the phone, and, in my opinion, they killed me in the prosecutor's office. In general, parents directly accuse the prosecutor's office of this," she said.
According to Romanova, the parents of the deceased child filed a lawsuit. Because of the incident, the United Nations Commissioner (UN) came to Mexico City to sort out the situation with child detention, the woman added. The country's authorities also began investigating the murder.
"They made a lot of noise about this girl, who was found murdered over the weekend," Romanova concluded.
On that day, the Russian Foreign Ministry summoned the Mexican Ambassador to Moscow, Eduardo Villegas Mejias. During the conversation, the diplomat informed about the investigative interview of Kristina Romanova, which took place on April 17 in the presence of employees of the consular department of the Russian Embassy in Mexico City. The ministry noted that the expressed and written wish of the girl imposes on Mexico increased responsibility for the safety and health of Romanova before and after her coming of age on May 15, 2026.
Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said on April 16 that the Mexican ambassador had been summoned to the ministry, where he was seriously concerned about the situation surrounding Kristina Romanova, who was being held in the Latin American country.
On April 15, the Russian Embassy in Mexico informed Izvestia that the situation with Kristina Romanova was under special control. The diplomatic mission added that the continued detention in the institution of a person who is not a detainee, arrested or convicted.
