- Iran warned the United States about the consequences of the blockade of the Strait of Hormuz
Iran will consider the naval blockade of the Strait of Hormuz by the United States as a violation of the ceasefire. This was stated on April 18 in a statement by the Supreme National Security Council of the Islamic Republic.
"As long as the United States intends to prevent the passage of ships using methods such as a naval blockade, Iran will consider this a violation of the ceasefire regime, and will also prevent the limited opening of the Strait of Hormuz," Tasnim news agency quoted the Telegram channel as saying.
It is noted that Iran will continue to monitor shipping through the Strait of Hormuz until the final end of the conflict with the United States.
Earlier in the day, the Iranian Armed Forces restored military control over the Strait of Hormuz due to the blockade by the United States.
Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi said yesterday that the passage through the Strait of Hormuz is open to commercial vessels due to the truce between Lebanon and Israel. He added that the movement of ships is ensured along the route agreed upon by the Organization of Ports and Maritime Transport of Iran.
US President Donald Trump said that the naval blockade of Iran's ports remains in place, despite the opening of the Strait of Hormuz, until Washington's deal with Tehran is 100% completed.
