Nizhny Novgorod Region Governor Gleb Nikitin purchased a new Volga K50 crossover to test the car. He announced this on April 17 in his channel in MAX, posted footage of the car and shared his impressions of the novelty.

"I purchased the car before the official start of sales in order to evaluate its characteristics and make recommendations for further localization. We are developing production in Nizhny Novgorod," Nikitin said.

He noted that the Volga K50 is a spacious, comfortable and dynamic car, has many convenient modern functions and electronic assistants. The governor said that he enjoyed driving and expressed confidence that the car would be in demand among consumers, and the project to revive the Volga brand had a great future ahead of it.

"The Volga revival is a very significant project for the region and the industry. This is not only the restoration of the automobile brand, which was a symbol of an entire era, but also the creation of additional jobs, new component industries, and the development of an auto cluster," he wrote.

The Volga K50 crossover was unveiled on March 19. The Volga K50 is equipped with a turbocharged 2-liter engine with a capacity of 238 hp, as well as a four-wheel drive system. The engine is paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission.

The model is scheduled to launch in the summer of 2026, along with the K40 crossover and the C50 sedan. All of them are based on Chinese cars, but in the future Volga intends to develop its own original models. Production of the Volga K50 and other models will be set up at the Nizhny Novgorod plant, which previously produced Skoda and Volkswagen cars.
