Zakharova said about the unprecedented degradation of relations between Russia and Japan

The current relations between Russia and Japan have deteriorated unprecedentedly at the suggestion of Tokyo. This was announced on April 16 by the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova.

"As for the current situation in Russian-Japanese relations and who is responsible for their degradation, let me remind you that this degradation has reached an unprecedented low level," the diplomat said at a briefing.

Zakharova added that the facts eloquently indicate who was responsible for the current situation: it was Tokyo that initiated measures to curtail cooperation with Russia.

Thoughts on the past: Japanese business is ready to return to Russia

Entrepreneurs are interested in unfreezing projects in agriculture, medicine, and smart cities.

As the head of the Federation Council's international committee, Grigory Karasin, noted on April 9, cooperation between Japan and Ukraine on arms issues will significantly complicate the gradual normalization of interstate relations between Moscow and Tokyo. The parliamentarian stressed that it is time for Tokyo to start thinking about the future and act accordingly, otherwise it is difficult to imagine the necessary predictability in the Far East.

Secretary General of the Cabinet of Ministers of Japan Minoru Kihara said on April 3 that Tokyo plans to maintain current restrictions on Moscow. He also denied reports about the possible dispatch of an economic delegation to Russia.
