Russians have become more likely to choose cars from more expensive segments.
In the first quarter of this year, Russians most often considered buying new cars worth 2-3 million and 3-5 million rubles — each of them accounted for 29% of the audience's attention. At the same time, the share of the segment of 3-5 million rubles increased by 3.7 percentage points (percentage points), and the segment of 5-8 million rubles — by 2.5 percentage points, Avito Avto experts told Izvestia on April 15, having studied the array of data on the platform.
According to experts, in the first three months, demand for new cars increased by 44.7% compared to the same period last year. The average price was 3.56 million rubles.
In March, the share of new Chinese cars in the supply was 48.3% compared to 61.3% a year earlier. At the same time, the share of Russian-made cars increased from 30.2% to 40.5%. Analysts attribute this dynamic, among other things, to the emergence of new conditionally Russian brands on the market, such as Tenet, which has become one of the most prominent market players in the segment of new cars priced from 2-3 million rubles. According to the results of the first quarter, two models of this brand became leaders in popularity at once — the T4 and T7 crossovers. At the same time, Lada retains the largest share among Russian brands — 56%.
Lada Granta, Tenet T4 and T7 became the leaders in terms of interest among users of the platform. Haval Jolion and Lada Niva Travel are also in the top 5. Lada Vesta, Haval M6, Lada Iskra, as well as the Evolve i-Space are very popular.
"If at the beginning of 2025 cars made in Russia occupied less than 30% of the offer, now it is almost every second ad on the platform. For the new car market, this is one of the most obvious signs of how quickly the supply structure is changing," said Dmitry Peretz, Head of Analytics at Avito Avto.
At the same time, analysts recorded an increase in the share of cars with electric and hybrid power plants. In March 2026, they accounted for 5.6% of the offers on the platform, compared with 4% a year earlier. At the same time, their share in Moscow already reaches 12%, and in the regions — about 5%.
In Russia, 2.5 times more new German cars were sold in the first quarter of 2026 than in the same period last year. As noted on April 14, in total, almost 12.5 thousand brand cars from Germany were sold in January –March, compared to 4,887 units in the quarter a year earlier.
Sergey Tselikov, director of the Autostat analytical agency, clarified on April 9 that the high growth in registrations of new cars of German and Japanese brands in the Russian Federation was due to the effect of a low base and the fear of Russians that it would soon become much more difficult to purchase such cars.
