The Russian car market remained in sixth place in the European ranking.
By the end of March, the Russian automotive market retained the sixth place in the European championship, which it dropped to in February. This was reported on April 14 by the analytical agency Autostat, citing data from the GlobalData consulting company.
The UK took the first place in this ranking with 380.6 thousand cars sold, which is 6.6% more than in March last year. At the same time, in February she was only fifth. As explained by the British Society of Automobile Manufacturers and Dealers (SMMT), the beginning of spring is traditionally characterized by a surge in sales associated with a change in the identifier on local license plates.
Germany took the second place (294.2 thousand units; +16%), followed by Italy (185.4 thousand units; +7.6%) and France (173.6 thousand units; +12.9%). Spain rounded out the top five (130.3 thousand units; +11.7%).
Although Russia became the sixth in the ranking (104.3 thousand units; +30.6%), however, among the aforementioned countries it demonstrated the best dynamics in early spring. In addition, for the first time in three months, the Russian market has surpassed the mark of 100,000 new cars sold.
A day earlier, on April 13, it became known that 2.5 times more new German cars were sold in Russia in the first quarter of 2026 than in the same period last year. In total, almost 12.5 thousand brand cars from Germany were sold in January-March, compared to 4,887 units in the quarter a year earlier.
