- The WSJ reported on Iran's intention to limit the number of ships passing through Hormuz.
Tehran intends to limit the number of vessels passing through the Strait of Hormuz to ten per day. This was reported on April 11 by The Wall Street Journal (WSJ), citing sources.
"As part of the cease—fire reached with the United States this month, Iran told the mediators that it would limit the number of ships passing through the strait to about a dozen per day and would charge fees," the publication said.
The publication added that the fee will reach the amount of $ 2 million. It is specified that shipowners from a number of states are already negotiating with the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) on the rules for crossing the transport corridor.
Special regulations will be established for the few vessels that receive permission to pass. In particular, they will have to travel strictly along specially designated routes and pre-arrange the relevant documents.
The Reuters news agency reported on April 8 that the Iranian authorities may partially open the Strait of Hormuz next Thursday or Friday, before the start of negotiations with representatives of the United States in Islamabad.
Later, on April 9, American leader Donald Trump said that Iran was allegedly unsatisfactorily and unfairly fulfilling its obligations to ensure the free transit of ships through Hormuz.
