President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky is delaying the approach of peace by his actions. Andrei Kolesnik, a member of the State Duma's defense committee, said this on Friday, April 10, commenting on the Ukrainian leader's plans to deploy US and European military bases in the country as part of security guarantees.
"Zelensky can plan anything, and he can have any intentions. <...> The fact is that he is delaying peace with these actions," the deputy said in a conversation with Lenta.Ru .
Kolesnik recalled that one of Russia's main demands was that NATO countries not be stationed on the country's border.
"This is one of the root causes of the special military operation," the parliamentarian stressed.
On April 9, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced an Easter truce from 16:00 on April 11 until the end of the day on April 12, reports NSN. It was clarified that the head of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation, Andrei Belousov, and the Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation, Valery Gerasimov, were instructed to stop the fighting for the period of the truce.
