The most powerful prayer for Easter is the words that change fate: when to read and what will happen
Easter is the main day of the year for Christians. The triumph of faith in God, who suffered for the sins of mankind, the memory of how he was dead and resurrected. This holiday is traditionally celebrated in the temple. They also try to do good deeds and devote time to home prayer. What to ask God for on this day, what prayers to say and where — in the Izvestia material.
What is the Easter Troparion?
On Easter, believers remember the resurrection of Jesus Christ, who, according to the Gospel, accepted suffering in order to atone for the sins of mankind. It is customary to celebrate the holiday in the temple — at a night service and a festive liturgy. However, the inner state of a person is considered equally important: the desire for good deeds, mercy and sincere prayer, including at home and with family. Believers turn to God with joy, because this is a time of light and thanksgiving prayer. On this day, it is appropriate to ask for forgiveness of sins, strengthening of faith, peace in the soul and family, as well as for the health of loved ones.
In a broader sense, the direction of Easter prayer is set annually by Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia in his address to the faithful. Taking into account the current events, he urges us to pray for a just and lasting peace, for people experiencing illnesses and difficulties, for the authorities and the army, and even for enemies. A prayer of thanksgiving is of particular importance — for life, for salvation, and for the possibility of spiritual renewal. You can pray both in church during worship, and at home — in the morning, before a festive meal, and during the day. Believers can start the day with the Easter greeting "Christ is risen!".
There are no particularly strong prayers in the "energetic" sense at Easter. The power of turning to God depends on a person's sincerity, the head of the Youth Department of the Stavropol Diocese, Priest Alvian Tkhelidze, told Izvestia. Joyful hymns about the resurrection of Christ are heard in the church on this day. First of all, "Christ rose from the dead, restoring death to death and giving life to those who are in the grave" ("Christ rose from the dead, conquering death by death, and giving life to those who are in the graves"). This is the Paschal troparion, which is repeated as a refrain in the divine service.
The Troparion is the main hymn of Easter in the Orthodox Church and other churches following the Byzantine rites. It is sung in temples throughout the entire period of the celebration of the Resurrection of the Lord, that is, 40 days, before the feast of the Ascension. All Easter services begin and end with the singing of this hymn.
— In general, you can pray for anything, ask God for anything, as in any other period. However, during the Easter period, the commemoration of the deceased ceases. In order not to overshadow the Easter joy, we focus only on festive, positive, joyful things," said Tkhelidze.
What prayers to read on Easter
If you want to adhere to the church tradition, you can follow the prayer rule established for Easter celebrations. According to him, any prayers begin with the Easter troparion, which is read three times. This order is maintained until the feast of the Ascension.
The reading of the Paschal Troparion is also a substitute for prayers at the table. At the same time, Easter cakes and eggs can be consecrated not only in church, but also at home. To do this, you need to recite the Easter troparion three times before the meal, and then sprinkle the food with holy water with the words: "In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Amen to that." This ceremony symbolizes the consecration of food and gives special spiritual significance to the Easter meal. After the meal, instead of "Thank You", they read the "Angel Crying" backdrop.
It sounds like this:
"The angel cries out with Grace: Pure Virgin, rejoice! And pack up the river: rejoice! Your Son is risen three days from the grave, and the dead have been raised up: the people rejoice. Shine, shine, new Jerusalem, for the glory of the Lord has risen upon you. Rejoice now and be glad, O Zion. But you, Pure One, show off, O Theotokos, about the rising of Your Nativity." ("The angel cried out to the Blessed One: 'Pure Virgin, rejoice! And I'll say it again: Rejoice! Your Son rose from the grave on the third day and raised the dead." People, celebrate! Shine, shine, new Jerusalem – the glory of the Lord has risen above you! Rejoice now and show off, Zion! Rejoice, O Pure Mother of God, in the resurrection of Him who was born of You.")
The prayer "Heavenly King" is not read, as it is addressed to the Holy Spirit. Bowing to the ground is also canceled.
Many believers pray on Easter for the health and healing of themselves and their loved ones. During the Easter period, you can, in particular, read the troparion, Glas 4:
"O Christ, who art swift in intercession, show a speedy visitation from above to Thy suffering servants, and deliver them from infirmities and bitter diseases; and raise them up to pet Thee and glorify thee unceasingly, through the prayers of the Theotokos, O Only Lover of mankind." ("You are the only speedy Intercessor, O Christ, so grant speedy help to Your suffering servant from above, deliver him from his ailments and serious illnesses, and lift him up through the prayers of the Mother of God so that he may unceasingly sing praises and glorify You, O One Who loves Mankind.")
The clergy strongly recommend that believers attend Easter services, and if they cannot reach the temple, turn on broadcasts on Orthodox TV channels or on social networks. Such a broadcast is conducted, for example, by Priest Anthony Rusakevich, a "Positive Priest" from the Tver diocese.
— At home, you can read the canon of Easter, the hours of Easter, the troparion and the kontakion of Easter. Any Easter services that should be in your prayer book or on the Internet," Vladislav Beregovoy, head of the missionary department of the Pesochenskaya diocese, told Izvestia.
The priest also stressed that Easter is not a holiday of "pastry chefs and cooks," as is often perceived today.
— I want to remind the faithful that the Bright Resurrection of Christ is a celebration of Christians who celebrate the victory of Christ over death, over the devil at a difficult, heavy, painful cost. And that during Holy Week you should not be at the stove, but at the cross, at the shroud, at the divine service. And on Easter day, not just to eat your cakes to the brim, but to really come to the night service and touch this great mystery of the Resurrection of Christ. Go through the procession and receive communion at this service, if, of course, you prepare for it. And remember that if God didn't have the last word, the injustice of this world would drive us crazy. And since he always has the last word, it means that everything in our lives will get better. If God is with us, then who is against us? Nobody.
