Lebanon is not a party to the temporary ceasefire agreement between the United States and Iran. This was announced on April 8 by Axios journalist Barak Ravid, citing White House press Secretary Caroline Leavitt.

"White House Press Secretary Caroline Leavitt informed me that Lebanon is not a party to the ceasefire agreement with Iran," he wrote on his page on the social network X (ex. Twitter).

On the same day, the Iranian Tasnim news agency, citing a source, reported that Iran may abandon the truce agreement with the United States if Israel continues to strike Lebanon. As the agency's interlocutor explained, the truce agreement provided for stopping the war "on all fronts," including the operation of the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) against the Lebanese Hezbollah movement.

On April 8, Israel launched a new attack on Lebanon, despite the truce agreement. According to the Lebanese Ministry of Health, hundreds of people were killed and injured after the attack. Iran's state broadcaster IRIB also reported on the "brutal Zionist bombing of Beirut." Al Mayadeen TV channel provided Izvestia with footage of the aftermath of an Israeli strike on a cafe in the city of Sayd in southern Lebanon. As a result of the attack, nine people were killed and more than 20 injured.

US President Donald Trump said earlier in the day that he had agreed to suspend strikes on Iran for two weeks. He explained that the condition for this was the complete unblocking of the Strait of Hormuz. The head of the White House said that the United States had received a 10-point proposal from Iran to resolve the conflict. Washington is ready to continue working on its basis. Later, the office of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said that the country also supports the agreement.

All important news is on the Izvestia channel in the MAX messenger.
