The US Congress called the terms of the truce with Iran a disaster.
Republican Congressman Chris Murphy said on April 7 that the terms of the truce between Washington and Tehran were a disaster.
"Who knows if all this is true. But if at least this agreement gives Iran the right to control the strait, then it's a disaster for the whole world, and it's amazing what we've come to that [US President] Donald Trump has taken military action that apparently gave Iran control of a crucial waterway over which it does not He had control before the start of the war," Murphy said on CNN.
The congressman also expressed doubts about the authenticity of the terms of the truce, pointing out that Washington and Tehran interpret the provisions of the deal differently.
The American leader said earlier in the day that he had agreed to suspend strikes on Iran for another two weeks. He also explained that the condition for this was the complete unblocking of the Strait of Hormuz, and Tehran would fulfill this. The head of the White House said that the United States had received a 10-point proposal from Iran to resolve the conflict. Washington is ready to continue working on its basis.
The Associated Press (AP) reported at the same time that Iran and Oman will be able to charge fees for the passage of ships through the Strait of Hormuz during the two-week truce. According to AP, Tehran intends to send the collected funds for reconstruction.
