The cost of diesel fuel in the Czech Republic has reached its highest level in the last four years. This was reported on April 7 by the Czech news agency CTK.

"Over the past week, the price of the best—selling Natural 95 gasoline increased by 14 cents to CZK 41.63 per liter, and for diesel fuel — by 34 cents to CZK 48.39," the publication says.

It is clarified that in order to curb the sharp rise in fuel prices, the Czech government decided to limit the margin of the selling companies and reduce the excise tax on diesel fuel. In addition, the Ministry of Finance of the Republic intends to set maximum allowable prices for motor fuel on a daily basis.

Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban said on April 6 that the European economy will face a sharp decline in performance for years to come if the situation with shortages and rising energy prices is not resolved soon. Orban also noted that the current situation is an extremely serious problem that can undermine economic growth.

Kirill Dmitriev, Special Representative of the President of the Russian Federation for Investment and Economic cooperation with Foreign countries, head of the Russian Direct Investment Fund, announced on March 26 the onset of the largest crisis with fuel prices, which will lead to problems in the economies of the European Union (EU) countries. According to him, oil prices tend to reach $150-200 per barrel. In this regard, Dmitriev suggested that deindustrialization and severe problems could occur in Europe.
