KAMAZ has upgraded production at the engine plant
KAMAZ has carried out modernization at the engine manufacturing plant. It primarily concerned the assembly processes of engines, power units and transfer cases, the press service of the Naberezhnye Chelny auto giant reported on April 6.
In particular, the Andon system was developed at the docking of power units, with which the master can control the clock cycle time of each employee and redistribute personnel depending on the complexity of the operation. This allowed us to increase the assembly line cycle by 7% compared to last year.
The boxes for testing the transfer case with the GUR pump were also upgraded, due to which the number of defects in the "GUR pump leak" was reduced by 90%, the company shared.
At the paint line, specialists upgraded the washing machine, which made it possible to work in two-shift washing and painting mode. Other solutions have made it possible to increase the reliability of the units and reduce the number of warranty cases, KAMAZ said.
In the future, the company plans to automate the labeling process in order to eliminate the human factor and defects associated with an unreadable part number. And also install a laser corrosion removal device to reduce the processing time by 75% due to the exclusion of manual labor, reduce pollution due to the absence of abrasive dust and chemicals, reduce labor costs and injury risks, and improve the quality of surface preparation.
Earlier, on March 26, it was reported that KAMAZ is studying the transition to a one-day work week starting from June 1, and the company's production plan for this year may be reduced. This is due to weak market growth prospects and pressure from imported machinery from manufacturers in China.
