The weather forecaster warned of cold weather and sleet in Moscow this week.
The weather in Moscow will remain relatively warm at the beginning of the week, but by Thursday, April 9, a sharp cold snap, precipitation and increased winds are expected. On April 6, Tatiana Pozdnyakova, a leading specialist at the Meteonosti news agency, told Izvestia about this.
"The peak of the cold weather and inclement weather will be on Thursday, which will probably be the most unfavorable day of the week," she said.
According to the expert, on Monday the air temperature in the capital will be +6...+8 degrees, which is higher than the climatic norm, but short-term rains are possible after noon. On Tuesday, the Atlantic cyclone will begin to affect the weather: clouds will remain, precipitation is expected in some places, and daytime temperatures will rise to +10...+12 degrees.
Atmospheric pressure will begin to rise on Wednesday, but cloudy weather with rain will continue to prevail in the region. The air temperature will drop slightly, and the wind will change direction to the north, which will lead to further cooling.
Pozdnyakova drew attention to the fact that the most difficult weather conditions are expected on Thursday. Precipitation is forecast in Moscow, mainly in the form of wet snow, gusty north-easterly winds up to 12-15 m/s and a decrease in temperature below the climatic norm by about 4 degrees. The temperature will drop to -2...+3 degrees at night, and to +2...+7 degrees during the day.
The forecaster did not rule out that snow cover may temporarily form in some areas. Starting on Friday, the impact of the anticyclone will begin to intensify, with less precipitation, but nighttime temperatures will remain at around zero and below.
Gradual warming is expected in the region by the weekend. On Saturday, daytime temperatures can reach +6... +10 degrees, and in Moscow — exceed the mark of +10. According to preliminary forecasts, dry weather with variable clouds and temperatures of about +10 degrees is expected for Easter.
The summer of 2026 may be abnormally hot in some regions of Russia. Forecasters predict that in June the average values will exceed the climatic norm. Also in July, higher temperatures are expected in the east of Russia. However, it may be colder in Primorye and Sakhalin than last year.
