The wife of the President of the United States, Melania Trump, mediated an agreement between Russia and Ukraine on the reunification of six Ukrainian children with their families. This was announced by the White House on April 2.

"Reuniting children with their loved ones in this region of the world remains one of the most important global challenges of our time," the First Lady of the United States said in a statement on the website of the American government.

According to the report, another child will leave for his family later this month. Trump also noted that she was encouraged by the parties' commitment to further cooperation.

Maria Lvova-Belova, the Presidential Commissioner for Children's Rights, said on February 11 that Kiev was intimidating families by separating them from their children with the help of the recently passed law on the forced evacuation of children in Ukraine. According to her, such forced evacuations can contribute to the appearance of arbitrariness on the ground. In addition, the forced separation of children from their parents is always associated with psychological trauma.
