AvtoVAZ to develop 394-horsepower Lada Azimut crossover
AvtoVAZ is developing a hybrid modification of the Lada Azimut crossover, the first car will be ready in the third quarter of 2026. This was stated by Maxim Sokolov, president of the company, at the International Transport and Logistics Forum (ITLF), TASS reported on April 1.
According to Sokolov, the domestic crossover will be equipped with a plug-in hybrid power plant. A pilot sample of such a model is scheduled to be released in the third quarter.
The top manager clarified that the hybrid Lada Azimut will be all-wheel drive, and the total power of the power plant will be 290 kW (394 hp). The car will be able to accelerate to 100 km/h in 5.7 seconds and drive 1,100 km without stopping to refuel or recharge.
The start of mass production of Lada Azimut is scheduled for the same time, Sokolov confirmed in March. At the start of production, Russian Lada engines with 1.6 liters (120 hp) and 1.8 liters (132 hp), aggregated with both manual and automatic transmissions, will be installed on the crossover.
Earlier, on March 27, the head of AvtoVAZ said that the opportunity to subscribe to Lada cars will appear in the spring of this year, and initially this service will be extended to the Lada Vesta model. The program will cost about 40 thousand rubles per month.
