From Azimuth to Adamas: what new cars are being prepared for Russians in 2026
According to preliminary estimates, three dozen new products from Russian companies, popular Asian brands, as well as new market players will enter the Russian market in 2026. Izvestia has collected the most interesting car premieres.
The first in a new genre
The main novelty of the Russian automotive industry can be considered AvtoVAZ's first crossover Lada Azimut. The car is slightly larger than the Vesta, on the platform of which it is built. This is a representative of the Class B crossover segment. The length of the new model is 4416 mm, and the wheelbase is 2675 mm with a ground clearance of 208 mm. That is, the Azimuth is located roughly between small Chinese crossovers such as the Tiggo 4 and Geely Coolray, and larger ones like the Tiggo 7.
The engines have also been upgraded: the 1.6—liter unit will develop 120 hp, and the 1.8-132 hp unit. They will be paired with a six-speed "mechanics" or a variator. Later, a version with a 1.5-liter turbo engine from a "friendly partner" and a classic "automatic" will appear.
Serious attention is paid to the safety of the machine. The basic equipment will have ABS, ESP and two pillows, but the more expensive ones will have six pillows, including side curtains. Also on the list of options are dual—zone climate control, electric tailgate, all-round viewing system and panoramic roof with sunroof. In addition to the full electric package, side front windows with electric heating will also be offered.
The start of Lada Azimut production is scheduled for the summer of 2026. In addition, AvtoVAZ will present the Vesta with new options and the classic Niva with a new engine.
The Volga again
The launch of the revived Russian brand Volga is scheduled for 2026. The model range will consist of the Volga K40 and K50 crossovers, as well as the Volga C50 sedan.
It is known that the Volga K50 is a "reshaped" Geely Monjaro with dimensions of 4770×1895×1689 mm with a wheelbase of 2845 mm. The new Volga will be exclusively all-wheel drive with a two-liter turbo engine and a classic eight-speed automatic. The engine is designed for AI-95 gasoline. Either 19-inch or 20-inch wheels will be available for the K50. The Volga C50 model is a clone of the Geely Preface. The sedan is certified with a two-liter gasoline engine in two boost versions (150 and 200 hp), which is combined with a seven-speed robotic transmission. Front-wheel drive only. The K40 model will be a variant of the Geely Atlas.
Nizhny Novgorod Passenger Cars company will be engaged in the production of cars.
Not only the Patriot
Sollers planned to introduce the updated UAZ Patriot at the end of 2025, but the market launch was postponed to 2026. This happened due to the fact that the company wants to introduce an update for all models of the line at once.
It is expected that the upgraded Patriot will receive a 2-liter engine with a capacity of 130 hp, as well as a 6-speed manual transmission. Externally, this car is distinguished by new fully LED headlights, a new steering wheel, a central tunnel and a multimedia system will appear in the cabin.
An SUV under the Sollers brand is scheduled to be launched in 2026. It is based on the JAC T9 pickup truck, whose cars are also assembled at Sollers enterprises. Another area of the Russian-Chinese partnership is vans and minibuses, which will be presented under two brands.
In the first quarter, serial production of Sollers SF1 minibuses using full-cycle technology will begin at the Yelabuga plant. The car with a 1.5 turbo engine (136 hp) is designed to carry six passengers and has three rows of seats.
Moskvich in a new way
Other Russian car factories will also present their new products. So, Moskvich will launch production of new M70 and M90 crossovers in early spring. These are analogues of the British-Chinese MG brand models.
The M70 belongs to the mid-size segment and is equipped with a 1.5-liter turbo engine (156 hp) with a 7-speed "robot" or a two-liter unit (200 hp) with a 9-speed "automatic" ZF. The drive will be front-wheel drive only, but in the future the car will be equipped with all-wheel drive.
The M90 is a large seven—seat crossover with a two-liter turbo engine and a 9-speed ZF automatic. The drive can be either front-wheel drive or full-wheel drive. The length of the car is almost 5 m. All the body panels of the M70 and M90 cars are galvanized.
Queue at the outlet
The Moskvich plant will also assemble Russian Atom electric vehicles. They are planned to be produced in three versions: for private use, taxi and carsharing. The length of the Atom is 3,995 mm, the width is 1,790 mm, the height is 1,643 mm, and the wheelbase is 2,635 mm. The claimed turning radius is 4.9 m. Rims from 17 to 19 inches are provided.
The hatchback is equipped with a 204-horsepower electric motor on the rear axle, which allows you to accelerate from zero to "hundreds" in 8 seconds and reach 170 km/h. The battery capacity is 77 kWh, it lasts for 500 km without recharging. It will take 8 minutes to replenish the energy reserve so that it will be enough for an additional 100 km.
The model features swing doors and a touchscreen display on the steering wheel.
Another Russian manufacturer of new energy vehicles, Lipetsk-based Evolve, has announced an all-wheel drive version of its i-Space hybrid crossover. It has an additional electric motor on the rear axle and develops a total of 367 hp (470 Nm), allowing you to accelerate from zero to 100 km/h in 7.1 seconds. In the all-wheel drive version, the crossover will be offered in a five-seat version.
The total range of such an i-Space reaches 1000 km on the WLTC cycle. Fuel consumption is 5.6 liters per 100 km. The crossover supports fast charging via the CCS2 connector: the charging time of the traction battery from 30 to 80% is 20 minutes.
In addition, Evolve will introduce a new generation of i-Sky electric crossover. It will be produced together with the new i-Joy with welding and painting.
Kaliningrad-based Avtotor will introduce two new electric models of the domestic Amberauto brand in 2026 — the A7 crossover and the A3 hatchback.
Localization features
In 2026, automakers will continue to localize their models in Russia: due to the growing recycling, direct imports are becoming unprofitable.
The line of cars of the Russian brand Tenet, assembled at the former Volkswagen plant, will be supplemented by a large crossover T9, an analogue of the Chery Tiggo 9. Other brands of the Chery Group can settle in Russia and change their names. So, Jaecoo can rename itself to Jealand, Jetour has the Votour brand in stock.
So far, new items are being announced under the same names. Jaecoo will start selling its smallest model, the 4.5m long J6. At the start of sales, the Jaecoo J6 will be offered in Russia with front-wheel drive with a 147 hp 1.5 turbo engine in combination with a six-speed robotic transmission. In the second half of 2026, the range is expected to expand with the introduction of an all-wheel drive modification with a 150-horsepower 1.6 engine with a seven-speed "robot".
The company also said that the interior of the crossover is finished with materials that are wear-resistant and scratch-resistant, and the model is positioned as a car for pet lovers. A special set of accessories will be provided for pets.
The related brand Omoda will bring to Russia the second generation of its "designer" crossover C5. In addition to the updated exterior, the interior will change. The car will be sold in Russia with a 1.5-liter turbo engine with a capacity of 147 hp. The front—wheel drive version has a six-speed robotic transmission, all-wheel drive has a seven-speed.
Soueast will bring the most compact model in the line, the S06, in 2026, while Jetour, on the contrary, announced a more expensive novelty — the G700 hybrid premium SUV with a total power plant capacity of 900 hp. JAC is preparing a T9 pickup truck with a multi—link rear suspension and a JS9 frame SUV.
Replenishment in the premium
The premium segment will be replenished with other equally interesting new products. Voyah will begin selling its flagship Taishan SUV with three rows of seats in 2026.
The power of its hybrid power plant is 515 hp, it is built according to a parallel scheme — a one-and-a-half-liter turbo engine can be connected to the wheels. The battery with a capacity of 65 kWh provides a power reserve of 350 km on electric power, and the total power reserve exceeds 1400 km. Thanks to the 800-volt architecture, the battery can be charged from 20 to 80% in 12 minutes.
Thanks to the fully-controlled chassis, the turning radius of the 5.2 m long machine is 5.4 m. The three-chamber air suspension provides five height levels in the range of 110 mm.
The Rox 01 premium SUV will appear in an improved version of the Adamas with air suspension. The car is being localized in Russia, and small-scale assembly using domestic components will be completed by the end of 2026.
The appearance of new brands on the Russian market has also been announced. Chery will bring the iCaur hybrid SUV in retro style, Changan — Deepal hybrids. GAC will show innovative Aion and Hyptec cars, but under its own brand.
There are no plans to leave
In 2026, new models were prepared even by those brands that show modest sales results, which is why experts considered them candidates for withdrawal from the Russian market. SWM is going to introduce the G03F family crossover and the updated G01 Pro in 2026, and the company plans to start production of both models in a full cycle with painting and assembly at the Kaliningrad plant.
BAIC will expand the off—road vehicle range in Russia, with two new models, the BJ30 and BJ41, joining the BJ40 and BJ60 in 2026. The first is a light SUV with a body length of 4730 mm and a wheelbase of 2820 mm. In the Russian market, the model will be offered in a hybrid version, in which the internal combustion engine works as a generator to recharge the battery. The BAIC BJ41 is a new generation of the BJ40 frame SUV with a one-piece roof (the top of the predecessor is disassembled). The model will be available with petrol and diesel engines. Next year, VGV will launch a new Bolden S7 pickup truck and a facelifted VGV U70 crossover on the Russian market.
