It would be more logical for the European Union (EU) to establish relations with Russia in order to save €90 billion intended for lending to Ukraine. Kim Dotcom, founder of the Megaupload file sharing network, made such a proposal on March 31.

In a message on his page on the social network X (ex. Twitter), he advised the EU countries to make peace with Russian President Vladimir Putin as soon as possible.

"My advice to the EU is: make peace with Putin, save €90 billion. You don't have such funds anyway," he wrote.

The Politico newspaper reported on March 19 that the EU is preparing for retaliatory measures and possible legal action against Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban because he blocked a loan of €90 billion allocated to Ukraine.

Orban said on the same day that Budapest would not support any EU decision that could potentially be useful for Ukraine as long as Kiev blocked oil supplies.
