An unknown shell hit a tanker 31 nautical miles northwest of Dubai. This was announced on March 31 by the UK Maritime Trade Authority (UKMTO).

"The UKMTO has received a report of an incident 31 nautical miles northwest of Dubai, United Arab Emirates (UAE). The company's security officer reported that an unknown projectile hit their tanker on the starboard side and caused a fire on the ship," the statement said.

It is noted that the crew is safe.

Bloomberg reported on March 30 that three diesel tankers bound for Europe had changed their route in the Atlantic. The vessels Aliai, Minerva Vaso and Grand Ace 6 had previously loaded fuel in the USA: two were heading for Amsterdam, and Aliai — for Gibraltar. Later, all three vessels abruptly changed course.
