On March 30, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova commented on the "progressive" recommendations of the European Union (EU) to its citizens to reduce electricity consumption to meet basic needs amid the energy crisis.

"The EU's energy strategy is striking in its progressivity: do not wash, do not turn on the lights, do not leave the house, do not drive or fly anywhere. The slogan of the European Commission: "We are plunging into darkness for your money," the diplomat said in her Telegram channel.

Thus, Zakharova commented on a Politico newspaper article in which it was reported that European Commissioner for Energy Dan Jergensen suggested that Europeans travel and fly less to save fuel in times of crisis due to the military operation of Israel and the United States against Iran.

Kirill Dmitriev, Special Representative of the President of the Russian Federation for investment and economic cooperation with foreign countries and head of the Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF), on March 28 also compared ignoring the energy crisis by European countries with an attempt to postpone the ringing of a loud alarm clock. A day earlier, he said that Europe and the UK would beg Russia to restore oil and gas supplies. According to Dmitriev, the West has exposed itself by refusing to supply domestic resources.

On March 26, Russian President Vladimir Putin advised Russian businessmen to refrain from the temptation to "eat through" them and preserve their prudence due to the excess income from rising oil prices. Also, it is not necessary to use the finances from new revenues for state budget expenditures, inflating them too much, Putin added.
