In St. Petersburg and the Leningrad region, during air quality monitoring, one-time exceedances of the maximum permissible concentrations (MPC) for fine suspended particles (PM2.5 and PM10) were recorded. This was announced on March 30 by the city's Environmental management committee.

The research was carried out using automatic stations in 18 districts and mobile laboratories. The North-Western Department of Hydrometeorology and Environmental Monitoring explained that the air quality was affected by adverse weather conditions.

In calm conditions, impurities accumulate in the surface layer, which can cause a characteristic odor and light haze, especially in lowlands and near major roads.

Anastasia Samoilova, a family doctor and endocrinologist, in an interview with 78.ru She noted that such air quality can negatively affect the respiratory system.

"For patients with bronchial asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), this is a particular danger," she said.

According to the doctor, constant exposure to polluted air can lead to headaches, chronic fatigue and other nonspecific symptoms.

In turn, the governor of the Leningrad region, Alexander Drozdenko, denied information about the introduction of an emergency situation in the region. In his channel in the MAX messenger, he said that fraudsters spread false information through the e-mail addresses of legal entities and individuals, using the details of the decree of the government of the Leningrad Region on the formation of the commission for the development of the territorial compulsory health insurance program.

"There are no grounds for introducing a state of emergency in the Leningrad region," the head of the region stressed.

On March 27, Drozdenko said that since March 22, the region has been on high alert due to unprecedented attacks by unmanned aerial vehicles. Air defense forces and means are working out all waves of attacks, the regional government and relevant committees have switched to a round-the-clock operation mode to quickly eliminate the consequences, together with the Ministry of Emergency Situations and Leningrad Fire and Rescue.

All important news is on the Izvestia channel in the MAX messenger.
