More than 3.3 thousand people evacuated from flooded areas of Dagestan
In Dagestan, 3,338 people, including 1,033 children, were evacuated due to heavy rainfall. 760 residential buildings and 950 court plots remain flooded. This was announced on March 29 by the press service of the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations.
According to the report, 58 citizens are in temporary accommodation facilities, 32 of them are children. Rescuers continue to provide assistance to the population, as well as pets.
"Forces and assets are being rapidly relocated to areas with the most difficult situation. Rescuers with the help of high—speed equipment, watercraft and by hand deliver residents to safe zones," the department said.
It is noted that additional forces are involved on the Tarnairka and Cherkess-Ozen rivers to clear and remove accumulated garbage. In total, more than 670 people and 224 pieces of equipment were involved in the elimination of the consequences.
On the same day, Bagautdin Mamaev, acting head of the Khasavyurt district of Dagestan, reported that the evacuation of the population had begun in the village of Adilotar due to rising water levels. The disaster affected more than 460 homes.
In some regions of Dagestan, precipitation exceeded 50 mm, setting new highs for a long time. Due to the effects of bad weather, the republic's administration has introduced a high-alert regime, which will be in effect until Monday.
