Lercek's ex-husband said the blogger needed money for treatment
Blogger Lerchek (real name is Valeria Chekalina) needs money for medical treatment and family support. This was announced on Friday, March 27, by her ex-husband Artyom Chekalin, whose words were reported by the Izvestia correspondent.
Earlier, the media reported that Lercek's mother Elvira Feopentova had registered a new cosmetics brand. Commenting on this, Chekalin stated that he knows nothing about this business and about the involvement of his ex-wife in it.
"God grant her (Lerchek. — Ed.) success and great victories. She needs money now, both for treatment and for her family, so God grant that everything will work out for her. <...> I don't know what kind of brand it is, where the finances come from, there are probably some partners," he said.
Chekalin admitted that he was worried about the health of his ex-wife, and also noted that he had not undergone medical examination for about two years.
"Something hurts a little bit, but then we'll heal," he concluded.
Chekalina gave birth to her fourth child with Argentine choreographer Luis Squicciarini in February of this year, and was hospitalized the day after her discharge. According to the man, Lercek, who was found to have cancer cells during one of the examinations, began to undergo radiation therapy. Some time later, on March 16, the blogger was released from house arrest, and the criminal proceedings were suspended due to an oncological disease detected in the person involved.
Another criminal case against Lercek and her ex-husband Artem Chekalin was opened in October last year. The ex-husband and wife, as well as their accomplice Roman Vishnyak, were suspected of illegally withdrawing more than 250 million rubles from Russia to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) using forged documents. Chekalin, like Lercek, denied involvement in the withdrawal of funds abroad, but pleaded guilty to violating tax laws.
