- The first trailer for the new HBO adaptation of the Harry Potter books has been released.
HBO has unveiled the first teaser trailer for the series based on J. K. Rowling's Harry Potter books, titled "Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone." The premiere of the project is scheduled for Catholic Christmas in 2026. All the details are in the Izvestia article.
New adaptation and cast
The first two-minute video introduces the audience to the new performers of the roles of the famous "golden trio". The role of Harry Potter was played by Dominic McLaughlin, Hermione Granger was played by Arabella Stanton, and Ron Weasley was played by Alastair Stout. The young actors were selected during a large-scale open casting among children aged nine to 11 years.
The adult cast was led by famous British and American actors. John Lithgow will appear as Headmaster Albus Dumbledore, Janet McTeer will play the role of Professor Minerva McGonagall, and Paapa Essiedu will play Severus Snape.
The showrunner of the project was Francesca Gardiner, known for her work on the TV series "The Heirs", and Mark Mylod directed several episodes.
Fidelity to the original story
The first season of the series is based on the book "Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone". The creators promise a more detailed adaptation of J. K. Rowling's novels compared to feature films. The production was organized at the Livesden Studio in the UK, where filming has been conducted in strict secrecy since July last year.
The trailer shows iconic moments from the first book, including Harry's life in the closet under the stairs, his first meeting with Hagrid, played by Nick Frost, and the distribution of faculties. The trailer also shows footage of the Hogwarts Express train and the first Quidditch practice sessions at Gryffindor Field.
On March 24, Medialogia presented on its website a Russian series rating consisting of the 100 most popular projects of the past year.
