US President Donald Trump should not have started two wars at the same time — a trade war with China and an armed war with Iran. This opinion was expressed on March 24 by The Washington Post columnist Matthew Lynn.

"The United States has unleashed two wars simultaneously: a trade war with China and Europe and a real war with Iran. This will certainly turn out to be a serious mistake," the article says.

According to the author of the article, Trump has an "inextinguishable thirst for conflict." As a result, the American administration, which promised to put America first, spent "most of its energy" trying to "reshape the rest of the world."

Lynn explains that in the context of the Iran conflict, it would be useful for the United States to enlist the support of the French navy, British aviation, or Canadian or German arms manufacturers to ensure uninterrupted supply of weapons. But it is very difficult to do this after the introduction of "punitive duties" against these countries. European voters have "little sympathy" for the American president.

"The White House could focus one hundred percent on one goal. Instead, he tried to achieve two huge goals at the same time. The result is already becoming painfully obvious. A real war makes it harder to win a trade war, and vice versa," Lynn writes.

On March 21, Russia, China, Iran, North Korea and Pakistan were named the main threats to the United States. The global and transnational threats include the missile threat, migration processes, cyber threats and technology development, as well as the situation in Africa.
