TWZ reported a B-52 strategic bomber shot over California.
A B-52 strategic bomber was spotted in the sky over the Mojave Desert in the US state of California with a pair of the latest AGM-181 Long-Range Standoff (LRSO) nuclear cruise missiles or their prototypes. This was announced on March 24 by the portal The War Zone (TWZ).
"We also got the best view to date of the new long-range cruise missile AGM-181 Long-Range Standoff (LRSO) The US Air Force, spotted under the wing of a B-52H bomber," the article says.
According to the portal, the plane took off from Edwards Air Base (USA), where, presumably, flight tests of ammunition took place. The AGM-181 LRSO is being developed as a replacement for the aging AGM-86B Air Launched Cruise Missile (ALCM).
"It is also known that the AGM-181 will carry the W80-4 thermonuclear warhead," the publication clarifies.
