- Orban said it was impossible to overcome the energy crisis without energy supplies from the Russian Federation
Overcoming the energy crisis in Europe is impossible without Russian energy resources. This was stated on March 13 by Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban in an article for the German newspaper Die Welt.
"The United States is already negotiating with Russia and has allowed India to import Russian oil again. On the contrary, Brussels does not want to know anything about the suspension of sanctions against Russian energy carriers. <...> Without profitable Russian oil and gas, we will not be able to overcome this crisis," the publication says.
According to the politician, the concept of isolating the Russian Federation did not lead to an end to the Ukrainian conflict. He noted that Europeans are tolerating rising energy prices, and industry is collapsing in the region.
Kirill Dmitriev, head of the Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF), said on March 13 that without Russian energy, there is no way out of the global energy crisis.
On March 9, Russian President Vladimir Putin said at a meeting on the situation on the global oil and gas market that Russia was ready to work with the Europeans on energy supplies, but signals of their readiness were needed. He clarified that the state may decide to transfer energy supplies from the European market to "more interesting areas" without expecting Europe itself to "demonstratively slam the door" on this initiative.
