He clarified that the leaders in the height of snowdrifts there in the Moscow region are Cherusti, where the height of the snow cover was 55 cm — minus 4 cm per day, and the most significant decrease in the height of the snow cover occurred in the Wedge — minus 10 cm per day, where the snowdrifts stopped at around 20 cm.
At the same time, the weather forecaster noted that snowmelt has slowed down in Moscow.
"According to the city's base weather station, VDNKh, the height of the snow cover has decreased by only 1 cm over the past day and this morning it reached 39 cm, which is still about 20% higher than normal. At other weather stations in the metropolis, snow decreases more noticeably — by 2-3 cm per day," the Moscow city news agency quoted Leus as saying.
He said that today the weather conditions in the metropolitan region will continue to be formed by the northern periphery of the anticyclone, no precipitation is expected, and the sun's rays will be able to raise the temperature to record highs again, RT reports.
