- WHO has reported 1,800 deaths in Iran, Lebanon and Israel due to the escalation of the conflict.
Since the beginning of the escalation of the conflict in the Middle East, more than 1.8 thousand people have been killed and more than 12.5 thousand injured in Iran, Lebanon and Israel. These data were published on March 11 by Tedros Adan Ghebreyesus, head of the World Health Organization (WHO).
"More than 1,300 people were killed and 9,000 injured in Iran, at least 570 dead and more than 1,400 injured in Lebanon, and 15 dead and 2,142 injured in Israel," he wrote on his page on the social network X.
In addition, Ghebreyesus noted an increase in the number of attacks on healthcare facilities in the region. Since February 28, WHO has recorded 18 attacks in Iran, 25 in Lebanon and 2 in Israel. He stressed that such attacks not only take lives, but also deprive local communities of access to critical medical care during the war.
On March 10, the World Health Organization warned of the risks of a "black rain" in Iran after strikes on oil facilities. Christian Lindmeier, a representative of the organization, stressed that WHO supports the recommendations of the Iranian authorities to stay indoors.
The New York Times reported on March 10 that the so-called black rain caused headaches, coughing, breathing and skin problems as a result of the US and Israeli airstrikes on oil facilities in the Iranian capital. Locals complain of severe discomfort after contact with sediment.
