- Lithuania may provide the United States with a territory for logistics operations in Iran
Lithuanian President Gitanas Nauseda said on March 6 that Vilnius was ready to consider the possibility of providing its territory to the United States for logistical purposes as part of a military operation against Iran.
"As a loyal and responsible ally, we would consider this possibility. Most likely, it will not be provided for any direct military purposes, but for logistical ones, since we take into account the fact that our territory is very far from these hot spots. Yes, Lithuania, as a NATO ally, is ready to consider such an opportunity," Sputnik Lithuania quoted the president as saying.
Nauseda also noted that Lithuania "understands" the actions of the United States and Israel against Iran, which, in his opinion, are aimed at preventing crises in the Middle East region, including a possible nuclear crisis in the future.
Asta Skaisgirite, the Lithuanian president's chief foreign policy adviser, said on March 4 that the country does not rule out the possibility of sending its armed forces to Iran, subject to a request from the United States. She also noted that Lithuania in this case could provide military assistance to the United States by sending military personnel to Iran.
