Clinical psychologist Daria Salnikova told us how to assess the stability of your self-esteem.

In an interview with Radio 1 on Thursday, March 5, the psychologist noted that the only truly reliable support is not in external circumstances, but inside the person himself. According to her, in unstable times, many people wonder what they can rely on, because money can become worthless, work can disappear, and relationships can end. If self-esteem is based solely on these external factors, it inevitably turns out to be vulnerable.

The expert stressed that people often confuse high self-esteem and self-worth. The first is often based on comparison with others and depends on external recognition, whereas self—worth is internal stability. She explained that it's not about the desire to please everyone, but about the ability to calmly perceive reality, acknowledge your feelings and make decisions based on your own comfort.

According to Salnikova, when a person has internal support, he does not wait for outside approval: in a difficult situation, he can discuss the problem, negotiate, or decide to leave if the relationship does not suit him. This is where true resilience lies — in the ability to make choices and take responsibility for them.

On March 3, crisis psychologist Varvara Likunova explained why people with unstable earnings are willing to take out loans for expensive cars. The expert advises that before applying for a loan, you should honestly answer yourself, to whom and what the person is trying to prove by buying, how his life will change after the purchase and what emotions the thought of a more affordable option causes. According to her, if anxiety about status prevails in the responses, this may indicate the need to work with self-esteem. Life.ru .

At the same time, clinical psychologist Daria Salnikova explained the effect of the phrase "I was not chosen" on a person's self-esteem. According to her, this expression reinforces a passive position and dependence on external evaluation, which is why self-esteem begins to be based on salary, approval or attention from others.

In October, psychologist Yulia Yudanova said that communication with pets increases self-esteem. According to her, self-esteem increases due to the unconditional love coming from pets. 360.ru N. suggested paying attention to the methods of animal therapy that positively affect the emotional state of people, writes RT.

Last summer, psychologist Maria Odintsovo warned that the assessment for behavior, especially low, and the subjectivity of criteria can undermine a teenager's self-esteem. The psychologist also noted that a negative assessment of behavior can reinforce in a teenager the feeling that he is "bad," which, in turn, can lead to even greater protests or apathy, the Moscow City News agency reports.

At the same time, clinical psychologist Anastasia Chertkova said that the main reason Russians turn to psychologists is the desire to increase self-esteem and gain inner confidence. According to her, this request remains the most common among clients of both sexes between the ages of 18 and 45, NSN notes.
