Drones will be used to monitor the ice flow in Ulan-Ude
In Ulan-Ude (Republic of Buryatia), drones will monitor the passage of the ice passage. The corresponding instruction was given by Mayor Igor Shutenkov at a meeting, during which the chairman of the Committee on Civil Defense, Emergency Situations and Emergency Valery Wildavsky reported on preparations for the flood.
"It is necessary to make sure that the cuts are effective. To do this, it will simply be necessary to use unmanned aerial vehicles for monitoring," the mayor said, as quoted by UlanMedia.
So, starting from March 9, ice-cutting operations will begin on the Selenga River. In the ice—prone area in the Bridge microdistrict, the ice will be cut by 900 m, and another 3 km will be cut in the section from the Academy farm to the village of Oshurkovo.
It is noted that drones will be used not only to monitor ice flow, but also to ensure the safe passage of spring floods, characterized by rising water levels in rivers.
