The Ukrainian company Naftogaz will begin importing liquefied natural gas (LNG) from the United States through a Lithuanian port. This was announced on February 26 by Sergey Koretsky, Chairman of the Management Board of the company.

"For the first time, Naftogaz is importing American LNG to Ukraine through a terminal in the Lithuanian port of Klaipeda," Koretsky wrote on Facebook (owned by Meta, which is recognized as extremist in Russia).

He specified that within the framework of cooperation with the Lithuanian energy holding Ignitis Group, the supply of American LNG in the amount of 90 million cubic meters was carried out. At the same time, gas will reach the territory of Ukraine during February-March.

The New York Times wrote on February 26 that there is growing concern in Europe that US President Donald Trump may turn the strong positions that the United States has gained in the oil and gas industry into a weapon to exert pressure on other countries.
