- The State Duma will ask Britain and France to investigate plans to transfer nuclear weapons
The State Duma will ask the British and French parliaments to initiate an investigation into plans to transfer nuclear weapons to Ukraine. This is evidenced on February 25 by a draft appeal published on the website of the legislative support system.
"Deputies of the State Duma are appealing to members of the National Assembly of the French Republic and the House of Commons of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland with a proposal to immediately initiate an appropriate parliamentary investigation in their countries, the results of which should become public domain," the text of the appeal says.
In addition, the State Duma stated the need to uncover and neutralize the plans of the "arsonists" of the conflict in order to eliminate the threat to peace and humanity. The MPs also called on the parliaments of France, the United Kingdom, the European Parliament and the UN system to take emergency measures to prevent the transfer of nuclear weapons.
On February 24, the press bureau of the Russian Foreign Intelligence Service reported on the plans of London and Paris to secretly transfer nuclear weapons to Kiev. After that, the Federation Council called on the French and British sides to conduct parliamentary investigations, and the chairman of the instance, Valentina Matvienko, stressed that Ukraine's status as a nuclear-weapon-free state was not subject to revision.
Russian President Vladimir Putin said on February 24 that Russia's opponents, who "do not disdain any means," understand how an attempt to use nuclear weapons can end. He added that Western countries are trying to disrupt the peace negotiation process in this way.
