The market for petroleum products in Slovakia is not under threat, and the oil needed by the country will begin to flow in the coming days, said Robert Kalinak, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense of Slovakia.

"Oil will start flowing to the republic in the coming days," the Slovak TASR news agency quoted him as saying.

Kalinjak did not specify a specific supply route, but noted that pumping through Croatia would have cost five times more. Therefore, it is more profitable for the country to receive oil by a longer route through Italy and the Czech Republic.

Ukraine notified Slovakia of its readiness to resume oil supplies via the Druzhba pipeline on Saturday, February 21. Earlier this week, Hungary and Slovakia accused Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky of blocking the resumption of oil transportation through the Druzhba pipeline for political reasons.
