The court refused to lift the seizure of the property and suspended the consideration of the claim until the legal successor of the deceased spouse appeared in the case of the division of the jointly acquired property of the ex-spouses Aliya and Alexander Galitsky. This was reported on February 20 by a correspondent of Izvestia from the courtroom.

According to the lawyer, the marriage registered in the Las Vegas chapel has no legal effect in Russia. The spouses do not have any joint property, because the marriage was not officially registered.

The human rights defender also asked for the seizure of the property to be lifted, arguing that the owner could not carry out business activities and also suffered reputational damage.

On February 18, the Moscow Regional Court overturned the decision of the court of first instance to choose a preventive measure in the form of detention in respect of Galitsky's late ex-wife Aliya, a suspect in the extortion case. The Court pointed out that there was no proper motivation for choosing a preventive measure in the form of detention. Judge Fedor Grigoriev, who sent Aliya Galitskaya to jail, has resigned.

Galitskaya's arrest became known on February 6 in connection with the extortion of $ 150 million from her ex-husband. It was noted that she was supposed to be in custody until April 3, but on February 8, Eva Merkacheva, a member of the Human Rights Council and a journalist, reported that Aliya Galitskaya had committed suicide in a temporary detention facility. According to the human rights defender, the woman was in solitary confinement. The note she left contained an accusation against Galitsky. As a result, a criminal case was opened against Aliya Galitskaya for defamation of her ex-spouse.

In October 2025, it became known that Alexander Galitsky's property worth 435 million rubles was seized by the Presnensky Court of Moscow. The list of seized property includes several real estate objects, including an apartment on Patriarch's Ponds, a cottage in the village of Millennium Park on Novorizhskoye Highway, an apartment in the Turgenev clubhouse, as well as three parking spaces for a car.
