Russian military personnel of the North group of forces repelled two counterattacks by the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) in the Sumy region. This was reported on February 17 in the Russian law enforcement agencies.

"The enemy conducted one counterattack in the Andreevka area by the 158th separate mechanized brigade, but was unsuccessful. As a result of the complex fire damage, the enemy assault group was destroyed," a representative of the security forces told RIA Novosti about one of the attacks.

For the second time, the Ukrainian military tried to advance four assault groups of the 122nd separate territorial Defense Brigade and the 253rd separate assault regiment "Arey". However, the advance was discovered by intelligence, and the counterattack was thwarted.
