Kiev residents receive electricity for only 1.5–2 hours a day due to the difficult situation in the country's energy sector. The reason was damage to power facilities after the explosions that occurred earlier. This was announced on February 7 by the Ministry of Energy of Ukraine in the official Telegram channel.

"Currently, residents of the capital receive electricity only for a short period of time — for one and a half to two hours," the ministry said in a statement.

The Ministry of Energy noted that the situation in Ukraine's energy system remains extremely difficult.

"The loss of capacity <...> has created an additional significant shortage of electricity, which is extremely difficult to cover, so the coming days will be difficult," the ministry stressed, adding that emergency shutdowns have been introduced in most regions.

Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko reported on January 31 that large-scale power outages in Ukraine could happen again. He urged residents of the capital to prepare in advance for possible disruptions. According to him, citizens should have supplies of food, drinking and industrial water, medicines and warm clothes. Klitschko also noted that the subway is gradually being restored in Kiev.
