The suspect in the murder of a hostage and a taxi driver, a bandit, was arrested before April 3.

A man suspected of kidnapping a hostage in Penza and his subsequent murder, as well as the massacre of a taxi driver, was arrested before April 3 this year. This was reported on February 6 by a correspondent of Izvestia.

It is noted that the defendant also admitted his guilt and did not object to the preventive measure.

The man and his accomplice were detained on February 3 in a house on Rublyovskoye highway. They put up armed resistance, as a result of which one attacker was eliminated, and the second was taken to the investigative authorities.

According to the Investigative Committee (IC), the defendants abducted a 39-year-old man in Penza, and later killed him on the basis of clarifying personal relationships and for selfish motives. Money and jewelry were stolen from the abducted man and his wife.

The attackers got into a taxi driver's car in the Samara region and drove to Moscow. According to preliminary data, the driver agreed to take them for 85 thousand rubles, but upon arrival in the capital, the men refused to pay for the trip. Later, the taxi driver's body was found with signs of asphyxia, as well as gunshot and stab wounds.

On February 3, Irina Volk, the official representative of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation, announced that one of the two suspects in the kidnapping and murder of a hostage committed in the Penza region had been eliminated in Moscow. The second attacker was arrested. The investigative authorities have opened a criminal case.

Volk, in turn, clarified that the body of a taxi driver killed by suspects in a kidnapping in Penza was found in a car in the west of Moscow. Criminal cases have been opened on the incident under Article 105 of the Criminal Code ("Murder"), Article 222 of the Criminal Code ("Illegal acquisition, transfer <...> the main parts of firearms, ammunition").
